Mikey Lewis: Hull KR playmaker banned for two matches for dangerous contact with Warrington Wolves' Ewan Irwin

Hull KR's Mikey Lewis has been banned for two matches for dangerous contact with Warrington Wolves' Ewan Irwin during their rearranged round two Super League match on Tuesday night.

Lewis was sent to the sin bin when his studs hit Irwin's ankle as he sent up a kick, and he has been given a Grade C charge.

The ban will take effect from Round 25 which means he can play against Toulouse on Saturday but then will miss games against Wigan Warriors and Huddersfield Giants.

That would mean he returns for the final round of the regular season.

It is not known yet if the Robins will appeal the ban.

Lewis had just returned from a four-match ban which he copped for a headbutt the last time Hull KR played Warrington.

During that period, his side won all four matches without their star half-back.

It was wondered whether Hull KR would stick with Ryan Hampshire due to their winning run, but Peters opted to bring Lewis back in, citing the learning curve he has been on over the last month.

However, Peters faces a conundrum that Lewis is available for just two of their four remaining matches until the play-offs.

At the time, Warrington Wolves head coach Sam Burgess referred to the contact as "very dangerous" while Peters said he did not feel there was any "intent" behind the action.

Hull KR's Tevita Pangai Jr has also received a four-match ban, which means he would not be available until the semi-finals, if Peters' side were to make it that far.

He was cited for 'late contact on a passer' in three instances, two charged as Grade A and one as Grade B.

Due to already having a hefty amount of points on his record due to an eye gouge on Leeds Rhinos' Jake Connor earlier in the season, he could potentially not play in a Rovers shirt again.

Your Site will show every game of the Super League live this season, including two matches each round exclusively live. The remaining five matches will be broadcast on .
